New Year's Resolution the "Where" and "Why"

Let me start my "New Years Blog" entry by wishing you all a "Happy New Year"!

I've been thinking about "New Years Resolutions" recently, most of us make them but how many of us actually stick to them? The answer sadly is very few but the important thing is that we still try!

The most common resolutions being to lose weight, (that's mine), to exercise regularly and to stop a bad habit like smoking or drinking.

I decided to look into New Years Resolutions, where and how did they come about?

The answers to these questions are "Babylonia" and the "how question" was down to "pleasing the Gods"!

It was customary as far back as the Babylonians, dating back 4,000 years ago, in 538 BC.
Who use to try and appease their Gods by taking a look at the areas in their lives that were not pleasing to neither the Gods nor them. They would make a "vow" or "resolution" to stop and then try and change for the better!

I find this fascinating, that for 4,000 years people still find comfort in wanting to better themselves, don't you?

Happy New Year!
